Celebrating the Region's Top 10 Small Businesses
Thursday May 5, 2011
Once again, mobank has been happily involved in the annual recognition of the region's Top 10 Small Businesses, a celebration sponsored by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.
And once again, several mobank customers are on the list of honorees, while others are playing an important role in the celebration.
With 2011 marking the 25th anniversary of the awards program, there will be a series of events to honor the winners and mark the milestone. The annual dinner for the Top 10 businesses, sponsored by mobank and held April 7 in the lobby of the downtown location at 1044 Main St., kicked off the observance.
The Top 10 small businesses are finalists for the Mr. K Award, named after famed Kansas City entrepreneur Ewing Kauffman. The mobank customers in the group are Brookside Barkery & Bath; Concrete & Masonry Restoration, Inc.; and Gragg Advertising. Rounding out the Top 10 list are Alexander Open Systems; EMR, Inc.; James Engle Custom Homes, LLC; McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips, P.A.; Mile Rail, LLC; SFP LLC; and Spin! Neapolitan Pizza.
Three other mobank customers were involved in the dinner: Catering by Lon Lane's Inspired Occasions, floral arrangements by Studio Dan Meiners, and audio equipment by Harvest Productions.
"Winning the Mr. K. Award in 1999 was a true milestone for us, so we really enjoy being a part of the ongoing recognition of our region's best entrepreneurs," said mobank president and CEO Grant Burcham. "Small business drives the economy, so it's important to recognize and nurture that success."
The celebration continues through the month of May with a number of events. On May 10, CEOs from the Top 10 companies will speak at a breakfast at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center. On May 25, the winners of 2011 Small Business of the Year and the Mr. K Award will be announced at the 25th Annual Small Business Celebration Awards Dinner at the Muehlebach Tower.
